The Children's Leadership Program (CLP)
Developed to cultivate and inspire leadership among children, the Children’s Leadership Program (CLP) seeks to nurture tomorrow’s leaders at an early age. Rights and responsibilities are emphasized. We are specifically guided by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC); the Uganda Constitution; and article 31 of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC) where “The child subject to his age and ability …..Shall have the duty to serve his national community by placing his physical and intellectual abilities at its service” Through the CLP, the WYPLA facilitates the formation of student clubs run by and for students. The primary aim of the clubs is to create a space and environment for school children to reflect on the leadership challenges of their generation. Some of the club activities include community work, debates, conferences, internships, advocacy etc. Children are encouraged to dream of possibilities in social and business innovations that have the potential to grow into serious entities to cause social transformation. |
